Good perspective. Actually, the Cardinals began in 1898. The team in GB, though not called the Packers until they were sponsored by the Green Bay Packing Co., started in 1896. The Bears started in Decatur, in 1919. The only team still playing in the city they started is the Packers. So, actually the Cardinals are the first with the same name as they started. They've just moved around a bit. Here's an interesting fact. In 1919, the Packers played their first game against the Menominee North End A.C, Menominee, MI. My Dad was part of the Menominee North team. On the following weekend, the Marinette All-Stars. Both games at Hagermeister Park in GB. My Dad was on the Menominee team, and ended up with a broken leg. Could never play football again. The Marinette team, the second weekend, the Marinette team was essentially the same players from the Menominee team. A little known fact. The Menominee team was pretty much the same team. After that, my Dad ended up going to the Packer games, and standing on the sidelines with the players, with several hip flasks with booze in them. Players would get a snort from him during the games. Anyhow.... that's the rest of the story.
