He's still in the running for induction with the "coaches" portion of the Hall Doorbusters voting.

I'd hope the standards for HOF are higher than that. Holmgren doesn't belong.

If he would have won that Super Bowl with the Seahawks, he would have been a shoe-in.
And probably if he had won a second Super Bowl with us.

Tom Coughlin and Mike Shanahan both have more career wins than Holmgren and two Super Bowl championships. They should be inducted before him.

I would agree with that those two would be ahead of Holmgren. Mike was a good coach but I just don't see him as a HOF coach. I also don't see Bill Cowher as getting in and he has about the same stats with the exception that Mike took a second NFL team to the SB and lost.

Here is the list of the 24 coaches in the NFL HOF.

George Allen 1966-1977
Paul Brown 1946-1962
Guy Chamberlin # 1922-1927
Jimmy Conzelman # 1921-30, 1940-42, 1946-48
Tony Dungy 1996-2008
Weeb Ewbank 1954-1973
Ray Flaherty # 1936-1949
Joe Gibbs 1981-1992
Sid Gillman 1955-1969, 1971-1974
Bud Grant 1967-1983, 1985
George Halas # 1920-29, 1933-42, 1946-67
Earl Lambeau # 1919-1953
Tom Landry 1960-1988
Marv Levy 1978-1982, 1986-1997
Vince Lombardi 1959-1967, 1969
John Madden 1969-1978
Earle Neale 1941-1950
Chuck Noll 1969-1991
Steve Owen # 1930-1953
Bill Parcells 1983-1990, 1993-99, 2003-06
Fritz Pollard # 1919 - 1923, 1925-1926
Don Shula 1963-1995
Hank Stram 1960-1974, 1976-1977
Bill Walsh 1979-1988

The "IF" game. IF Holmgren had stayed in Green Bay then no Ray Rhodes and probably no Mike Sherman. The Packers had the talent to make more runs and with Holmgren there to keep Favre's "hold my beer and watch this" mentality in check I think more SB appearances were likely. I think that in 1998 he was preoccupied with his next job and not as focused. Ron Wolf still leaves after 2000 and Holmgren gets the GM position and comes to the same conclusion he did in Seattle - both jobs are too much for one person. Steps down as coach in 2005 after 14 years and hires Sean Payton to be the next HC. :)

Tony Dungy is in the HOF as a coach with one title...i guess the hall gave him the tampa sb win by default? Glad I wasnt on that panel as I wouldve voted him out.

The Packers hired a coach in McCarthy in 2006 that has won and been to the same amount of Super Bowls as Payton.

In addition he wasn't suspended for a full season because of allowing a bounty scheme to run in his locker room.
