The reason why it looks like the average career of an NFL player is so short is because you have a significantly large number of people at the bottom end of the roster who only last a year, maybe two tops. These are people who don't see the field but for maybe a couple plays a game a couple times a year. This greatly skews the "Average lifespan" stat downward.</blockquote>
