I thought it was a very strange draft. Golden could be a very good receiver but I don't know how exactly he fits into MLF's very run heavy scheme since he's not going to be what I would call a strong run blocker. He also doesn't have elite speed on the field, just in his underwear; on field player tracking data showed average speed, behind guys like McMillan and Burden III. Belton could be a very good guard for the team but he doesn't seem to have the foot speed to be a reliable LT and the Packers just signed the 6th highest paid guard in free agency. For whatever reason the team really seems to dislike having an average LT in Walker and just wants to replace him. Williams is fun pick that I fully expect to be played more at RB than WR though he'll spend some time at WR as well. He'll be a fun gadget guy for MLF that will help keep Reed and Golden rested. Sorrell, Oliver, and Brinson all have pro's and con's but I'll never expect day three picks to turn into good NFL players; I'll just be pleasantly surprised when those guys work out because it happens so rarely. At the end of last season it appeared the team was really lacking a deep threat to scare defenses, an elite pass rush to force QB's to into making quick decisions, decent depth on the oline and quality depth at CB. This draft looks like it only addressed one of those issues. Gute must really think the dline coach last season was the worst coach in the history of the NFL and is relying solely on that change to improve the pass rush. Overall, Gute has been a slightly abover-average GM when it comes to the draft and my far too early opinion on this draft is that the Packers will yet again get a few good players and that Williams will be an elite player. I like Gute overall as a GM but he's really not very good at the draft. The last 10 seasons have seen the Packers draft six All-Rookie players, five Pro-Bowlers, and one All-Pro. Not exactly terrific numbers for a draft-and-develop team. As a comparison, the Lions have drafted 17 Pro-Bowlers over the last ten years. And before people start coming in with "well, the Packers always draft late" the Chiefs have done FAR better in the draft than the Packers and have been drafting pretty late themselves. Hopefully this draft starts to show that Gute can actually handle the "draft" part of "draft-and-develop".
