[QUOTE="Magooch, post: 1020779, member: 17987"] I do understand the notion that perhaps it is "better" to miss the playoffs and secure better draft position than it is to make the playoffs and presumably have an early exit. I would be in agreement that we are probably not a very serious Super Bowl contender at the moment. But still that said...I'd certainly rather we make it and drop a few draft spots than miss out. And while my gut says we wouldn't stand a chance against a team like SF or Baltimore or etc...by that same measure it wasn't long ago that my gut (and many others' here!) would've told you that we didn't stand a chance against the Lions, Chiefs, etc. In some ways it feels like we are more or less playing with house money at this point and that can make you pretty dangerous. By all accounts we're not "supposed" to be in the running for a playoff spot right now. We're supposed to be rebuilding for a year or two before hopefully being a contender in a few seasons. To even be in the mix right now is a big win. It wasn't too long ago that it was looking like perhaps the best course of action was going to be to blow it all up and tank for a top draft spot and hit reset…Now we've pretty certainly got our franchise QB secured and our young WRs are blossoming. We're still inexperienced and banged up but have shown that we can beat good teams if we're on our A-game. And look at the NFC field right now. Who would you count us out against? I wouldn't call us "favorites" against some of them (and Vegas probably won't, either) but on a good day I think we've got a "ceiling" that at least could have us hang with Dallas and Philly (who appear to be circling the drain), Detroit and LA (who we've already beaten), and Tampa (if Joe Barry stays home sick). I've got a hard time seeing us beating SF, but even if we got to them and lost that'd be a better finish than 2022 and the same as 2021. That still has to be seen as a success in my book. Go Pack Go!
