Man arrested after Lambeau Field scare

By Andy Nelesen

A 24-year-old man was arrested today after he drove a large panel truck into the Green Bay Packers players parking lot, looked around and ran from the vehicle.

Officers were called to Lambeau Field, 1265 Lombardi Ave., about 5 p.m. after team security staff spotted the man jumping the lot’s security fence and running from the truck.

The man later returned to the vehicle and drove around in the lot and was eventually stopped by officers, said Green Bay police Lt. Todd LePine.

Officers initially tried to call in a bomb-sniffing dog but found none on duty.

They instead searched the vehicle by hand and found nothing immediately suspicious.

The truck, which was covered with painted-over graffiti, was loaded with “garage sale things and junk” Le Pine said.

When officers questioned the man about his actions “he didn’t have a good answer for what he had done,” LePine said.

He said officers continued to question the man and felt he did not pose an immediate risk to players or the stadium. The man was taken to the Brown County Jail and booked on a trespassing citation, which carries a $361 fine.

LePine said officers talked with the man’s family members, who explained that he had recently been discharged from the military and had been exhibiting “behavior that called attention to himself” in recent months.

Police towed the suspicious vehicle from the stadium and expected to do a more thorough search on the truck at the police station.

No, probably was dognapped by Michael Vick.

wow great way to waste almost $400, how stupid are people?

Don't know about stupid, I'm guessing this guy will get to spend quite a bit of time talking to the nice people in white coats over in the Psych ward at the VA Hospital.

So much for security though, hey?
Now a REAL terrorist will know just how easy it is to get close to Lambeau Field. This is a story i wish they would have kept to themselves.

Yes, because Green Bay is such a terrorist target with all the millions of people living in the area and all.

I wouldn't rag on this guy, report said the family stated he had just served a term in the military. I know a lot of guys who have come back, and let me tell you, they are no where near normal. They get post traumatic syndrome and survivors remorse and all this other psychological stuff that does numbers on them. They all need serious therapy which not all get, ie. this man
