Transfer portal and NIL Money, how they have changed college sports".

A 16 game playoff makes a lot more sense than 12 games. I don't get that. And hell yeah it's a decent payday for the university, even if it's only the one game. A lot more eyeballs on a playoff game, a lot more advertising or pay-to-view opportunities. Yeah, the NCAA is not built for making...

Transfer portal and NIL Money, how they have changed college sports".

That's a good point - there have never been true amateur athletics in US sports, not really. I mean it's as old as grift and bribery. So now that we all know the story behind these teams, it takes away the mystery of who is getting paid and who isn't. But back to Poker's point, I wish it...

    Packers Official Schedule For 2024

Rodgers, for all his weirdness, or maybe because of it, is still a big national draw. I will say I'm interested in what this Jets "miracle" team will do.

Transfer portal and NIL Money, how they have changed college sports".

That's true as far as the USA now sending pros to some of the events. But for quite a while, other countries sent their paid athletes, esp in hockey and BB, while the USA sent only true, unpaid amateurs. The USA BB team has been made up of NBA players for a long, long time. Anyway, I too wish...

    Packers Official Schedule For 2024

Thanks. Yeah YouTube took the Sunday ticket from DirectTV, or rather was willing to pay what the NFL wanted. In all the years I had it, it was worthwhile. I think it was $249 or $299 for the season, but that was well over 10 years ago. I just had to get used to the Packers noon CT games...

Your last point, I never thought that would describe NIL - money going to a player without a name, image, or likeness worth anything. But that's happening. That NCAABB tournament where schools get $1 mil to participate, and then distribute the cash to everyone, is what I'm referring to. I'm...

    Packers Official Schedule For 2024

I'm pretty sure that's true. In bigger cities like NYC and Chicago, there are usually local bars that follow one team. There may not be a "Packer" bar in Chicago (maybe???), but I'm sure there is one in NYC, Los Angeles, and on. I lived near DC for a while and there were bars for every team...

    Packers Official Schedule For 2024

We lived in CA from 2000 to 2018 and I subscribed to NFL Sunday Ticket. It was always expensive, but always worth it. I don't know if that is still available. The streaming services broadcast some games now, primarily Monday and Thursday night games. It's possible to see any game you want, I...

    I had This Nightmare

You're correct. Pete Rozelle did make changes to help ensure "parity" across teams. Parity primarily prevents one team from outspending other teams (via the salary cap). This helps small market teams like the Packers field competitive teams. Parity is not the same as zero-sum. Players can...

    Bucks v. Pacers

As long as Lillard is there, we can forget about any run next season. He needs to go. He doesn't play defense at all, and he doesn't like to give up the ball. Holiday was a real breath of fresh air. A guy who led them on defense, and got movement from everyone, because he helped them get shots...

    I had This Nightmare

Good point. And we've seen it happen. A .500 plus team gets hot in December and runs the table. The Packers did it in 2010-2011 from the sixth and last seed. Almost pulled it off last season. The Giants did it when they beat the undefeated Pats in the SB. So it's best to be patient. The...

    Bucks v. Pacers

All good points V, especially about Kris M. I know I take his play for granted. And part of the problem with an old team is that few of these guys have much trade value, with the exception of Giannis. ' It's important to remember that Horst got the Bucks the talent they needed for their first...

    I had This Nightmare

It is a tough schedule. But it is also based on past performance. Not very team on the schedule will play as well as last year. On the flip side, it may be even tougher if Chicago makes a big jump, as they should. It's still a good gauge though and it will be a real test for these Packers.

Breaking Down the NFC North, 2024

Yeah not every rookie plays like Burrow or Stroud. Lawrence is a great example of a guy who has played ok under his rookie deal, but certainly at no great value given his performance. And the Packers never really got Love on a true rookie deal. although I'd argue the time behind Rodgers was...

    Bucks v. Pacers

Good article in the JS about Kris M. He very quietly does a lot for the Bucks. It gets overshadowed by Giannis, and now Lillard, and his own injury history which is detailed in the article. Amazing guy and we're fortunate he's a Buck. He gets a full offseason for the first time in a long...
